Grisanth is the world in which The Damage Guild’s Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition campaign, as well as our Patreon-exclusive bonus campaign, Tales of Grisanth, are set. Read below to learn more about the world and its history.
Consisting of two main continents, Ilthraud and Merengar, the world of Grisanth is a place of magic, mystery, mayhem, and other words that start with or without the letter M. A vast and divided globe in which the splintered remnants of a once-great empire dot the land, Grisanth saw the fall of its uniting ruler two centuries before the events of the podcast. Now, most kingdoms are small and self-contained; shadows of a greater past, with laws of their own and armies vying for control of limited resources. Some conflicts die away as quickly as they begin, while others last decades in the form of long-held grudges between rival countries who never seem to find common ground.
The cast of the Damage Guild created Grisanth’s history during a collaborative worldbuilding session before Dungeon Master Thayne Bohman took the reins and mapped out the lands, kingdoms, settlements and power groups which inhabit the areas surrounding the show’s events. An ever-expanding catalogue of places and characters exists in the form of the show’s wiki, which for now lies safely in the hands of a select few. But as rumor would dictate, there may or may not be plans in the offing for the future of this library. Someday, given the necessary sequence of events, it may become available to a larger audience, so that the world of Grisanth might continue to grow collaboratively on a grander scale…
